The mission of the Department  of  General Surgery at the university of Jordan is to educate medical students, post graduate students, and advanced training  fellows in accordance with the high professional standards; to participate in preparing competent physicians, to educate and train post graduate physicians and advance training fellows to practice patient-centered surgery of the high standard in clinical skills, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and to improve health through patient care, research, and education in the country and our region.

• Obtaining a sufficient level of medical knowledge to understand the basic facts, concepts, and principles essential to competent medical practice according to their level of qualification.
• Exhibit high level of effective and efficient performance in history taking, management, interpretation, communication skills and clinical decision making in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
• To obtain basic principles in medical research for medical students and postgraduate trainee.
